Hatha Yoga Foundation
The Hatha Yoga Foundation Course is designed to be safe for beginners and rewarding for more advanced students. Each yoga class is 90 minutes long and includes preparatory exercises (pawanamuktasana) to limber the joints and improve circulation, physical postures (asanas) to develop muscular tone, deep relaxation to allow the benefits of practice to be absorbed fully throughout the body and breathing exercises (pranayama) to increase lung capacity, cleanse the energy of the body and to balance the mind.
The 30 postures that make up the HYFC sequence are a complete series. They incorporate all the directions of motions your body can make and will sensitize you to reveal potential or current muscular and skeletal stressors. Special attention is paid to the process of linking breath and movement to increase self-awareness. This series develops tone and stamina in all major muscles and has specific effects on the glands and internal organs and to benefit all the systems in your body (endocrine, nervous, digestive, respiratory and reproductive). Once you learn these poses thoroughly, your body will gradually realign itself into a better posture, and many recurring health concerns may fall away.
