Vinyasa Yoga classes offer dynamic-type yoga which emphasizes strengthening, toning and slimming. It's a vibrant blend of classical yoga taught in a creative vein.
Vinyasa is an ancient hatha yoga method of synchronizing postures with a specific breathing technique. The literal Sanskrit meaning of vinyasa is "breathing movement system." Breath and movement are seamlessly united in such a way that each action encourages the other. Each movement has a corresponding breath, and the breath is used as a constant point of reference for returning to the present moment. The smooth flow of yoga postures linked to the breath gradually builds into a meditation in motion - a beautiful dance of body, mind and spirit. The emphasis is on building strength, flexibility and balance, as well as the correct alignment of poses, proper breathing, and opening the flow of prana (vital energy).
Practicing vinyasa yoga is energizing and relaxing at the same time. The benefits are numerous: trimmer physique, improved posture, stronger muscles and bones, and enhanced functioning of the respiratory, digestive, endocrine, reproductive, and elimination systems. The experience of feeling your breath leads to a calm mind and a deeper sense of well-being and balance.
