Yoga Mandala
Yoga Mandala
The word "mandala" translated from the sacred language of Sanskrit meaning "circle," but a mandala is far more than a simple shape. In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically. The mandala pattern used in many spiritual traditions represents wholeness, and can be seen as a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends beyond and within our body and mind.
Yoga Mandala is a tantric method of clearing the mind and balancing the consciousness that uses the "pendulum principle", a method of repetition based on a spatial model in the form of a three-dimensional cross. Special attention is paid to the schemes of the training sequences of asanas, vinyasas, pranayamas, mudras, mantras and visualizations. These are built up according to specific formulas in order to facilitate balancing and special consciousness modification. In this regard, any careless or unconscious movements of the body between the asanas are prohibited. When only specific conscious movements are executed, a proper foundation for mindful practice is created. This leads one toward consciousness in every moment of one's life. Different types of pranayamas, mudras, mantras and visualisations are offered to further the fulfillment of the exercises and correspond correctly to the needs of the body-mind structure at all times during the training.
Yoga Mandala can help one to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the practitioner to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the higher self from which the cosmos in all its many forms arises.
